Many Voices for Darfur

If I could visit the camps in Chad and get to talk with one of the refugees my age, I would start by thanking them for talking to me and show them how truly sorry I am for their sufferings and losses. Other people including me are making people aware of the situation in Darfur, by making videos, asking for donations to support the help, and writing letters to the governments in charge to persuade them to act immediately. For my part, I am helping to spread the awareness and making a difference by giving hope to those in these war torn countries and kids my age that are going through what you are going through.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses I want to share with you hope from the bible and what God has to say about these terrible things going on in the world. At
Hebrews 11:1, it says “Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.”
So faith is the basis for hope and the evidence for conviction concerning unseen realities. We all hope for something better to happen during our hard times in order to make our realities easier to endure.
The bible also shows that those that have died will live again; these world events are so temporary. The thousands that have died at the hands of the Janjaweed will be resurrected, they will get to see man having natural affection for one another and people who genuinely love one another regardless of color or race.
Acts 24:15 says “I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Those that have died will be resurrected to a changed world without death and killing.
1 John 2:17 says “Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.” Our world as we see it now, with suffering, killings, poverty, hunger, genocide, and lack of love will be done away with. These things will be no more!
Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Most people don’t believe in things they cannot see or touch but the bible tells us at 2 Corinthians 4:18 that “While we keep our eyes, not on the things seen, but on the things unseen. For the things seen are temporary, but the things unseen are everlasting.”
The things in front of us are temporary; killings, strife, poverty, and suffering, they are all temporary. You may not have the same job your whole life, your loved ones, financial stability, or the necessities for life. So we must have faith and hope that God, Jehovah will fix these temporary things. We as imperfect humans do not always have the answers to mankind’s problems or are we able to predict the future.
At Ecclesiastes 9:11, 12 it says “I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all. For man also does not know his time.”
So we do not know what tomorrow brings and tomorrow will have its own anxieties and stresses, we should focus on our lives from one day at a time.
I want to give you hope and want you to know that God does care for humans and that he will fix the terrible things happening on earth. We have to fight to endure, have comfort from the scriptures and hope along with faith in God to bring about change and find our purpose in life.
“Those that have power or riches do not see the truth for they are blinded by their own greed and lust for temporary things, but those weighed down with life’s anxieties can see the truth for they look for refreshment and hope to endure. These ones see the future clearly in their minds and long for God Jehovah to bring his judgment to those without natural affection.”
At
Jeremiah 29:11 it says “For I myself well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward YOU,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give YOU a future and a hope.” Thank you for listening and I know in my heart that hope in Gods’ promises will bring you and many people a hope for a better future without genocide.
